For aspiring Artists....

I understand the passion that a lot of young people have for painting and drawing as my own love for painting began when I was very young.

On this page, for aspiring Artists I want to show you the paintings that I did when I was a child so you can see that over time you get better and better at painting the more you practice, and that your own work can be just as good as mine.

This is your page on my website and if you would like me to post one of your paintings here just ask your parents to send me a photo of it by email with your name, your age and the title of the picture on it and I will gladly put it here for all to see.

Note: Please ask your parents first :)

My first ever wildlife painting

I think this is my first ever wildlife painting.

Aged 4 Years.

A bird and a lion! - I was always a Wildlife Artist at heart!

Painting of an African Eagle

One of my first watercolour paintings.

African Eagle by Eric Wilson aged 7

I still remember showing this one to my Dad, who immediately told me I didn't have enough contrast on the branch. He added the black shadow to it!

Tonal values are very important! Lesson learned. Thanks Dad.

Hunting for the Gentry

I did this one at school and was delighted when the teacher put it on the wall.

Aged 10

drawing of a horse

Horse in field.

I did this coloured pencil sketch from life when I was on holiday in Scotland. Aged 11  I loved to take a sketchbook out into the countryside with me to sketch the animals.

Arguments Yard, Whitby

We used to go for holidays in Whitby when I was a child. My uncle owned 'Harpooner Cottage' pictured here in Arguments Yard. I did many painting sketches like this from life when I was there.

Hussar. Battle of Waterloo

By Age 14 I was beginning to refine my skills.

oil painting of a gorilla in the jungle

'Gorillas in the jungle' ( Unfinished )

At 14 I was also trying out my first set of oil paints!

I always feel when I look at this picture that my future life was clear and yet neither myself nor anyone around me realized it at the time.
